The NASCAR qualifying lineup for the 2022 Sprint Cup race at Daytona International Speedway is now set. Forty-two drivers will compete for the coveted pole position, with Kurt Busch leading the way. The field features several prominent names, including Joey Logano and Jimmie Johnson. It should be an exciting race on Sunday!
qualifying for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series event at Daytona International Speedway will air on NBCSN Sunday morning after a brief rain delay caused by storms that raced through the area.
The session was scheduled to begin at 3:35pm ET and lasted only two minutes before officials pulled the cars off the track due to lightning in the vicinity. After a 65-minute break, drivers headed back out onto the 2.5-mile superspeedway but were quickly thwarted when another round of heavy thunderstorms arrived.
As a result, only three cars completed three runs with Joey Logano turning in a lap of 46.972 seconds (190.605 mph). Logano will be joined on Row 1 by Ryan Blaney, who ran a lap of 47.058 seconds (190.342 mph).
Completing the top-10 were: Denny Hamlin, Chase Elliott, Kevin Harvick, Kurt Busch, Erik Jones, Martin Truex Jr., Clint Bowyer and Brad Keselowski.
The starting lineup for Sunday’s race will be determined by a random draw that will take place during driver introductions at 1:50pm ET. The field will be lined up according to owner points standings with the exception of the front row, which goes to the top-two qualifiers.
The Daytona 500 is scheduled for 2:00pm ET on FOX with live coverage beginning at 1:00pm ET.
